Even Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – a title which is running on the seven-year old Nintendo Switch – still manages to look beautiful. Realistically, a AAA game releasing in 2023 should look flawless, as other titles like Resident Evil 4 and Dead Island 2 do. The few decent-looking textures are suddenly hidden behind a layer of darkness and mist. Of course, Diablo 4 is meant to be relatively dark and gloomy by design in a majority of its set pieces and cutscenes, but unfortunately, it only serves to make the game look even worse. Seemingly the same engine is being used to render cutscenes too which makes these just as disappointing. Textures, environments and character models simply aren't where they should be, given the size and scope of the game, and the asking price. If your game, set to release in 2023, resembles that of a title which hasn’t had a graphic update in almost a decade, that’s probably not a good sign. And not in a good way! For reference, League of Legends was released back in 2009 and its last significant graphics update was in 2014. When I originally wanted to give Diablo 4 a go, it came from my love of top-down games like League of Legends and I was surprised at how similar the graphics between the two titles. Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom patch spells doom for fans of the duplication glitches No excuses There's no question that it's a significant upgrade from its beyond-ugly-looking predecessor Diablo 3, but I just don't think Diablo 4 meets the current visual standards that other newly released titles are setting at the moment. Given that Diablo 4 is a new entry in the long-running series, I was expecting more after all of the hype surrounding it. There's a special joy in seeing classic older titles getting a major spruce up with a present-day graphic quality upgrade. A major aspect of these finding success, especially in the case of remakes like Resident Evil 4, is the visual overhaul. When playing through the open beta earlier this month, launching into the server slam and seeing what the game actually looked like for the first time was a major surprise.Ģ023 has been a stellar year for gamers with a combination of amazing remakes, sequels and new IPs. As someone with no history with the Diablo franchise, I’ve come in with no nostalgia to get me excited and very little in terms of expectations. The Power Nodes Isaac can access in the original game are also accessible in Severed in their original locations. For a AAA title coming out in 2023, I’m surprised more people haven’t had an issue with the absolutely abysmal graphics present in Diablo 4. Many of Dead Space 2's Conduit rooms are opened and accessible in Dead Space 2: Severed containing Stores and Benches.Like the other environments on the Sprawl, the hospital was destroyed when the station exploded. With the sacrifice of his life, Lexine was able to escape the hospital and Titan Station in a gunship. The state of the hospital had worsened by the time Weller entered the Corruption and number of Necromorphs (enhanced and standard) were spreading at an incredible rate. Gabe seemed to have arrived at the hospital only moments after Isaac had killed a Tripod and headed for Titan Heights. Lexine remained hidden in the psych ward, hiding from the Oracles and Victor Bartlett, waiting for the arrival of Gabe. Stross was able to escape the lockdown while Isaac was forced to find another route out of the complex. By virtue of the chaos, Stross may have been allowed to escape his cell. Lexine was in the middle of a fertility examination when her husband, Gabe, warned her of the danger and urged her to escape. Aside from Isaac, Nolan Stross and Lexine Weller resided inside the hospital before and during the outbreak. Foster Edgars was the only hospital staff encountered physically unscathed by the incident before he committed suicide in front of Isaac. Sprawl Security roamed the halls, on the look out for the "key subjects" Tiedemann wanted eliminated they were systematically picked off by the Necromorphs inhabiting the hospital. įranco's mission was only partially successful Isaac was freed from the confinement of his Stasis, but was left to escape the hospital on his own after Franco was killed by an Infector. Franco Delille later entered an already ruined psych ward to extract Isaac Clarke for the Church of Unitology. The telltale signs of chaos and death were written across the walls and general environment of the hospital incomplete surgeries, bodies hanging limp in wheel chairs and patients left in their beds to die all suggested the hospital staff were overtaxed by infected and living civilians looking to the hospital for help during the evacuation ordered by Director Hans Tiedemann. Titan Memorial was overrun by Necromorphs by the initial start of the outbreak.
